Welcome to the Bulldog Tools and Farrier Services website. Bulldog Tools is owned and operated by Butch Hockaday of Spotsylvania, Virginia. Butch has been shoeing horses since 1993 and began making farrier tools in 2004. Butch graduated from the Tennessee State Blacksmith and Farrier School in Bloomington Springs, Tennessee as a Certified Farrier for the Brotherhood of Working Farriers (BWFA). Shortly after graduation, Butch became a member of the American Farriers Association (AFA) and in 2001 completed the requirements for Certified Farrier. In 2003, Butch completed the necessary criteria and received his Certified Journeyman Farrier certification. Butch has been an active member of the Virginia Horseshoers Association (VHA) since 1993 and has served several terms as a Board of Director member and President . As a member of the VHA, Butch has had the opportunity to attend numerous VHA sponsored educational clinics and seminars. Butch has expanded his knowledge of farriery and tool making by attending clinics, forging contests, seminars, and conventions. Butch has also had the privilege to work alongside other talented farriers and has learned from those experiences. Butch started Bulldog Tools and Farrier Services when he began producing a line of farrier tools in 2004. Butch began making and using his own tools for his everyday work. Butch began receiving requests for tools from other farriers and shortly thereafter established Bulldog Tools. Thanks for visiting!
